The 2017 Program

The 2017 program will be released closer to the event.  Evening films are screened under the stars in the historic royal theatre in Winton's main street.

Join us for the Opening Party,  "Breakfast with the Stars", conversations and masterclasses with film industry leaders, location tours, daytime films, live entertainment and kids creative activities.

It's a nine day Australian movie marathon highlighting films inspired by the Outback.  In 2017 we're celebrating "Women in Film".  We hope you can join us!

Official Opening

Join us for the Official Opening in the open-air historic Royal Theatre with special guests and screening of a magnificent film (to be announced).

Opening Night Party

Following the Official Opening and screening, follow us next door to the famous North Gregory Hotel where you’ll have a chance to mingle, rub shoulders with film industry representatives and enjoy award winning live entertainment.

Qantas Short Film Competition

Join us under the stars for the screening of the Qantas Short Film Competition to see the finalists in the competition for “Women of the Outback”, and enjoy award winning short films from Griffith Film School and the University of New South Wales.

Official Closing Party

Exchange stories, celebrate among friends and listen to live music for the last 9th and final night of the 2017 Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival.

Special Events, Location Tours + Masterclasses

Throughout the festival, there are daily events including location tours to the sites where famous feature films, such as “Goldstone” and “The Proposition” were made around Winton.

Vision Splendid Juniors

Throughout the week of the festival, special activities for the juniors will be made, including “G” rated films and hands on creative activities. It’s Queensland school holidays, so we also have outback activities at the library, community centre and nearby at the Australian Age of Dinosaurs.

Morning Film (G PG)

Outback inspired contemporary, classic and children’s films screened in the Winton Shire Hall. Relax with friends (even bring a bean bag) there’s lots of room. Specific film program will be announced closer to the festival.

Movie Matinee (G PG)

Outback inspired contemporary, classic and cult films screened each afternoon in the Winton Shire Hall. Relax with friends (even bring a bean bag) there’s lots of room. Specific film program will be announced closer to the festival.

Cinema Under the Stars (G M MA15)

Immerse yourself in Australia’s latest films, including premieres and special features every night of the festival. Experience an authentic cinema under the stars in Winton’s open-air Royal Theatre.
