Getting To Winton

Winton is located in the heart of Outback Queensland, 180 kilometres north-west of Longreach, 472 kilometres south-east of Mount Isa and 1,500 kilometres from Brisbane. The region covers 53,935 square kilometres and is home to approximately 1,130 residents.

You can access Winton by air, road and rail. The journey is as important, worthwhile and celebrated as the destination.

By Air

Longreach Airport is the gateway to outback central Queensland and is the best way to reach Vision Splendid by air. Flights to Longreach are available from both Brisbane on a daily basis and Townsville twice a week.

QantasLink, Qantas, fly to Longreach from Brisbane on a daily basis. The airport is located approximately 180 kilometres from Winton.

Car rentals are available from  Budget or Avis, both conveniently located within the Longreach Airport terminal.

By Road

Winton is fully accessible via bitumen roads. Winton is located in Central Western Queensland on the Lansbourough Highway, 178 kilometres north-west of Longreach; 470 kilometres south-east of Mt Isa and approximately 1500 kilometres from Brisbane.

Bus services operate from a variety of locations to Winton.

By Rail

Queensland Rail is an official partner of the Festival and Kolperi and runs the very special train journey Spirit of the Outback.

This journey between Brisbane and Longreach,
offers a unique insight into the history and cultures of Australia.

Wonder at the ever-changing landscape – as the train makes its way to and from the very heart of the Queensland Outback.

The rail services operated by Queensland Rail Travel run twice-weekly to and from Brisbane to Longreach. There is then a Coach Service to Winton.
