Consider this your sign to start planning an Outback adventure for 25 June to 3 July!
Each winter in June and July, Winton comes alive for the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival! So, where should you stay when you come along? From hotels in the heart of town to cabins, caravan parks, glamping and camping under the stars, there’s something for every kind of festival-goer.
Our biggest tip? Book early! Winter is busy in Winton and accommodation fills fast.
Getting to Winton
First, you’ve got to get here!
Road trip to Winton in your own car, fly directly into Winton with Rex Airlines, or travel via Longreach by plane or train before connecting to Winton by bus.
For the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival 2027, we’re also working on the Vision Splendid Express with Red Dirt Tours, making it even easier to get from Longreach to Winton for the festival. More on that soon!
Stay in the heart of town
Want to be close to the festival action? Staying in central Winton means screenings, events, pubs and restaurants are all within easy reach.
The North Gregory Hotel is smack bang on the main street and right next door to plenty of our evening action.
Other Winton motel options include the Outback Motel, Boulder Opal Motor Inn and Matilda Motel.
Try something a little different
For a very Winton stay, The Crackup Sisters House will be opening dates early exclusively for Vision Splendid festival-goers.
Located right on the main street, the house is filled with Outback architecture, stories and artworks from 52 artists. It sleeps up to seven with two queen beds, two singles in the sleep-out, a full kitchen and bathroom.
$350 per night. Bookings: accom@crackupsisters.com
Or take your Outback escape up a notch at Rangelands Outback Camp, where you can swap a hotel room for luxury glamping and some seriously impressive Winton landscapes.
Cabins

Prefer your own little home base? Check out Red Cabins on Cordial Lane or the cabins at Winton Roadhouse Caravan Park and The Pelican Caravan Park and Cabins.
Caravan parks

Travelling with your home on wheels? Try Tattersall’s Hotel Caravan Park, Winton Roadhouse Caravan Park or The Pelican Caravan Park and Cabins with a small number of sites also available behind the North Gregory Hotel.
For something a little quieter outside town, there’s Winton Wanderers Caravan Park.
Camping
If Winton’s caravan parks reach capacity during busy periods, additional paid camping at the Winton Showgrounds may be made available. This is an overflow option only organised by the council and requires a permit from the Winton Visitor Information Centre, so check with the team there for current availability.
Fully self-sufficient? You can also free camp outside town at Long Waterhole or Mistake Creek.
We recommend staying close to town during Vision Splendid if you can, it makes getting between films, events and evening festivities much easier.
Make 2027 the year you come to Winton
Whether you’re glamping under the Outback sky, checking into a motel or rolling into town with the caravan, the best place to stay for the Winton Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival 2027 is the one you book before everyone else does!
Lock in your accommodation early, save the festival dates and start planning your trip to Vision Splendid.
See you in Hollywood of the Outback from 25 June to 3 July!
