Where to Stay in Winton
Securing accommodation is an important first step when planning your visit to the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival.
Winter is a busy time in Outback Queensland, and accommodation in Winton can book out quickly, particularly over the festival's opening weekend. We strongly recommend booking as early as possible to secure your preferred stay.
The good news? Winton is a compact, easy-to-navigate town, with most accommodation options conveniently located near our festival venues.
Staying Close to the Action
Most of Winton's accommodation is within walking distance of the town centre, including the historic Royal Theatre, Waltzing Matilda Centre and other festival venues.

Holiday homes and B&Bs
Many of Winton's holiday homes and B&Bs are tucked away in residential streets, generally around a 5–8 minute walk from the main street or a short drive.
A little further out
Winton Roadhouse Cabins & Caravan Park: Located on the northern edge of town. Walking is possible, although it's further from the main festival venues.
Winton Wanderers Caravan Park: A quieter option away from the town centre. You'll need a vehicle to travel to and from festival events.
Rangelands Outback Camp: For those seeking a luxury glamping experience outside of town, with transfers into Winton included in your stay.

Winton has several caravan parks, we recommend booking a powered or unpowered site well in advance, particularly if you're planning to visit during the opening weekend.
What happens when the caravan parks are full?
When local caravan parks reach capacity, Winton Shire Council may open the Winton Showgrounds for overflow camping.
There are a few important things to know:
The showgrounds operate as overflow camping only, not a regular bookable caravan park.
Bookings are not accepted.
Visitors must use available spaces at local caravan parks and businesses before accessing the showgrounds.
You must contact the Winton Visitor Information Centre before arriving to confirm whether overflow camping is operating.
Overflow camping should be considered a last resort rather than a guaranteed accommodation option.
