Flying, driving or taking the scenic route by rail? There are plenty of ways to reach Winton for the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival. We've rounded up the transport options and useful booking links to help you plan your trip.
Flying to Winton
Winton Airport (WIN)
The closest airport to the festival.
Rex Airlines operates flights connecting Winton with Townsville and Longreach on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Winton Airport is approximately 5 km from town, so you'll need to arrange a pick-up or transfer before arriving. There are no taxis in Winton but your hotel or the local Visitor Information Centre may be able to assist.
Longreach Airport (LRE)
The more flexible option, just 180 km from Winton.
QantasLink operates daily flights between Brisbane and Longreach, with Rex also providing scheduled services from Townsville.
From Longreach, hire a car and enjoy the approximately two-hour drive to Winton, or arrange onward transport.

Planning to fly into Longreach? Hiring a car gives you the flexibility to travel to Winton and explore the region at your own pace.
Both Avis and Budget offer vehicle hire directly from Longreach Airport, with collection and return facilities at the terminal.

Travelling by Bus

Prefer to leave the driving to someone else? Greyhound operates coach services between Brisbane and Mount Isa, with Winton among the stops along the route.

Travelling by Rail
Spirit of the Outback
All aboard! Queensland Rail's Spirit of the Outback connects Brisbane with Longreach, travelling through regional Queensland along the way.
The service operates twice weekly, with a connecting road coach service available to Winton. You can plan the train and coach journey through Queensland Rail.
